Decoupage is ever so popular with crafters as it can be used to create such beautiful cards The word comes from the French 'Decouper' - to cut out. 3D decoupage This involves cutting out several copies of the same image and then laying them on top of each other with each layer being smaller than the one before. A 3D effect is created by using either double sided adhesive foam pads or glue to stick the layers in place with foam pads probably being the easiest to use. If you're a beginner, try starting with 'step by step' decoupage. Here, each layer of the design is printed separately making it easy for you to cut out and put together. Usually it's quite easy to identify the order of the layers but if you're a beginner you could start with a sheet where each layer is numbered to make it quite clear what goes where Finishing touches For a more finished and professional look, you can curl petals by curling the edges of the top layer using a shaping tool, the back of your scissors or your fingers before you put your design together.Using different finishes on paper is also a good idea to add depth to the finished work.
